Ion Channels and Neurodegenerative Disease Aging Related

چکیده

Many neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Huntington’s multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral and age-related disorders are caused due to altered function or mutation in ion channels. Ion channels important maintaining cell homeostasis because they affect membrane potential play a critical role neurotransmitter secretion. As result, it appears that antiaging therapy strategy should consider treating at the same time focusing on identifying common target among biological processes implicated aging. In this chapter, we will go over some of fundamental ideas channel aging, well an overview how operate most aging-related disorders.

Response: Commentary: Age-related neurodegenerative disease research needs aging models

In response to my recent article (Johnson, 2015), Wallace and Howlett have provided a thoughtful commentary pointing out that aging might be defined not just by the passage of time, but by the accumulation of defects in multiple regions throughout the organism that can be represented by a frailty index (Wallace and Howlett, 2016). It occurs to me that this approach might help overcome two major...

Commentary: Age-related neurodegenerative disease research needs aging models

Citation: Wallace LMK and Howlett SE (2016) Commentary: Age-related neurodegenerative disease research needs aging models. In his recent article, Ian Johnson identifies a need for research into neurodegenerative diseases that makes use of animal models more closely resembling the complex, age-related reality of these diseases in people (Johnson, 2015). The purpose of this commentary is to build...

Age-related neurodegenerative disease research needs aging models

Citation: Johnson IP (2015) Age-related neurodegenerative disease research needs aging models. We all know that age-related neurodegenerative diseases affect aging individuals. So why does basic research continue to make use of the immature nervous system or mutants that succumb early and die young? And could this explain why strategies that rescue immature neurons fail to translate into effect...

Influence of Aging and Aging-Related Neurodegenerative Disease: From Single Neuron Model to Simple Neural Network

During normal aging, quite a lot of age-related changes happen like short-term memory, shakiness and muscle weakness occurring in human beings, and further affect the brain function, such as the altered calcium influx through the calcium ion channels, neural plasticity deficits, and other neurodegenerative processes. Some of them will even develop to a fatal neurodegenerative disorder like Alzh...

Ion channels-related diseases.

There are many diseases related to ion channels. Mutations in muscle voltage-gated sodium, potassium, calcium and chloride channels, and acetylcholine-gated channel may lead to such physiological disorders as hyper- and hypokalemic periodic paralysis, myotonias, long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, malignant hyperthermia and myasthenia. Neuronal disorders, e.g., epilepsy, episodic ataxia, famili...
